Luke McDermott

Luke is a classically trained heritage sandstone stonemason banker and shop team leader. He has spent 16 years in the trade, currently working with Heritage Stoneworks. Some of his works include Sydney Hospital, Crown Street Public School, and Sydney Library.

Luke won First Prize in the 2021 Stonemason Carving Competition. He won a hamper of stone products (valued at $1,350), provided by CDK Stone.

About the work

My snapshot of Frazer Fountain. I have always been inspired by the craftsmanship that went into Frazer Fountain and if I was going to do a snapshot  of stonework that fountain would be it. Scale has been a challenging part of the project and I look forward to completing the cravings on the top of the piece.
